What if there’s nothing to be afraid of? It’s the question that haunted me when I started this painting. What if life is more than we dreamed? What if it all worked out? What if failure wasn’t so scary? I was experimenting with dry pigments and walnut oil for this piece, imagining a life that was full of scary questions—that weren’t so scary anymore. This painting reminds me of the chances we get to take and the risks that are worth it. The surface of this canvas is smooth and varnished with a high-gloss sheen, almost like a sheet of glass.
