I wanted to see if I could mimic the feeling of graffiti using wet acrylic instead of spray paint. This painting is on a canvas panel and is varnished in a high gloss. I used several layers of wet acrylic to achieve a multi-dimensional feeling. Some of the marks seem to stretch far back into the painting, fading into the next layer. The varnish is thicker in some areas, giving off a refracted quality.

i burned a thousand-year flame for you
outside of the boundaries, i lingered
watching threads unfold
it’s time, you said
but it was another season, over and barren
yet—a green light remains, a beacon
you will eventually find your place
