West Texas has big, open, wide skies that amaze me. It feels like the sky is going to swallow me up in one gulp every time I look up. There are generally no clouds, but when there are, it’s because a big storm is coming, and they’re huge and fluffy. My favorite part of this painting is the iridescent cloud in the top corner. This painting is acrylic with a high gloss varnish on textured canvas. (The thick canvas means it measures slightly larger than 8x8, so it would need a custom gallery frame.)
