Scraps // A Prophetic Art Installation

I’m really excited to share this art installation with you all. It’s one of those projects I feel like I was on the earth to create. Something I was created to create. I’ve had it in my head for a while to do some kind of waterfall-like art project in my house along a very inconvenient wall in my living room that has plugs right at the top, very weird and not aesthetic. At first, I was going to do a giant 6 X 4 foot wedding tapestry, but that required a larger loom that I would have nowhere to store in my house! And then I had an idea for a floating scraps piece…

On the back of each scrap, each little painting, there is a prophetic word, lyric, poem, or scripture. Everyone who comes into my home is invited to take a little piece of me (and the Lord) with them when they leave. Ever so often, I’ll sit with the Lord and create new pieces to refill the wall when the empty space grows too large. The installation will be ever-evolving, much like life, and I can’t wait to see how it grows and changes with the seasons—just like me!

It was such a treat to unveil this living, breathing installation at a worship night. Such a sweet way to bring this season to a close and usher in a new chapter.

I hope to start installing these across the country in intimate spaces, leaving traces of God’s voice wherever I go.

He’s always speaking, isn’t He?

Some Scraps

Here are a few of the scraps that spoke the most to me while creating this past season. Most are gouache on archival paper, my favorite medium! Though there are some watercolor and charcoal ones as well.

Stick around to see how the installation changes over this year!
